Welcome to the latest series of Super, Neighbours blog posts where we highlight incredible travel destinations in British Columbia!Feast Tofino was back for it's fourth year and was bigger and better! Running throughout May, it featured “Stay and Dine” packages, as well as $29, $39 and $49 “Dine About” set price menus, special events, and celebrates "local, sustainable fisheries [and is a] collaboration between acclaimed local and regional guest chefs, restaurants, fishermen, foragers and farmers, all of whom celebrate in 'boat-to-table' food philosophy and great West Coast times..."Throughout my series of posts I'm going to show you around...from travelling to Tofino, to the delicious food, fun activities you can try, places you can stay and people you can meet. |
So I showed you in the last post the drive to get to Tofino, and now I'm going to talk about some places you can lay your head when you're done frolicking around the majestic wilderness playground!
My first of two hotels was the Long Beach Lodge, situated right on Cox Bay, one of the best surfing beaches in Tofino. The suite I had overlooked the beach full of surfers and sunbathers and it was pretty amazing to fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves...
The bathroom was fabulous, as was the deep soaker tub, which was perfect after a stroll in the very cold ocean water.
Pretty luxurious and relaxing to say the least...which was definitely aided by this little package that my friends at Tourism Tofino gave me to sample some of Tofino's locally made products (including that Kelp Stout from Tofino Brewing Co.).
Long Beach Lodge has a bunch of different lodging options in addition to the suites, including rainforest cottages, as well as on-site dining in the Great Room, and the soon-to-open Sandbar Bistro (more on this later).
The Surf Club on site offers lessons and rentals for surfing and stand-up paddleboarding, a spa-like facility with a hot tub (so good), a cappuccino bar, store, and change rooms. It was in use by a stag party when I went to check it out, who seemed to be having a great time on the beach later with their rentals.
Long Beach Lodge is pretty all encompassing and makes it hard to want to leave and do anything else in Tofino as you have everything you need at your doorstep. Great food, lodging, surfing...all lovely.

On the Sunday I moved over to Pacific Sands Beach Resort and into one of their BEAUTIFUL beach houses. It made me wish I had a bunch of friends with me, as the place was huge, and included a better kitchen than I have at home!
The view from the balcony is of Cox Bay beach which is steps away from the door. I made a point to go out in the morning and check out the tide pools (you'll see that in another post coming up!)
The view from the master bed(room) is absolutely stunning and is even better when experienced from the big soaker tub (see below).
Pacific Sands has a variety of lodging choices as well, from beach suites to the beach houses. You can check out the options and price ranges by clicking here.
It was a pretty perfect weekend on Cox Bay...watching the sun go down, the tide rise and fall, the surfers on the waves, the wildlife on the rocks. And everywhere you went people were happy...probably because they were also staying in these beach front bits of paradise.
Thanks to Long Beach Lodge, and Pacific Sands Beach Resort for having me...it was so very hard to leave and come home!
