Are you feeling a bit sluggish after the holidays? Did you make a New Year's resolution to be more healthy but find it hard to get the ball rolling? Tonight, at the Rio Theatre there is a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the best shows in town while exercising on brand new fitness machines!
Paul Anthony's Talent Time, Vancouver’s highly acclaimed comedy/variety show, has teamed up with Tower Fitness Equipment to whip you into shape while entertaining the sweat out of you. Every month, Paul and his co-host Ryan Beil, of the Sunday Service, serve up an array of uniquely talented locals and novelty acts alongside some of the city’s finest comedians.
Thursday’s show stars 11 year old Dante Arias, who recently placed gold in all three of his solos at the world dance competition in Poland. Local musician CR Avery, whose signature beat-box harmonica had Tom Waits growling, “he’s blowin’ my mind”, will perform a excerpt from his new rock opera Some Birds Walk For The Hell Of It, joined by burlesque beauties Melody Mangler & Violent Femme. Comedians Kevin Banner and Dave MacLean keep the evening afloat with laughs while the Teen Angels, a 10-piece youth choir will sing songs of the Smiths.
Talent Time is always a great choice for a solid, original evening of entertainment, but with this exercise element, this is a guilt-free, no-lose situation. Just don't forget to stay hydrated at the bar and wipe down that elliptical machine. Other people's sweat is just gross. Cover is $12, doors open at 7pm, and talent takes the stage at 8pm. It’s 19+ on the floor, all ages in the balcony.
