The King of Vancouver is coming up soon, this is a contest put on by DC shoes with a cash prize of $10,000 bringing all the best skaters in Canada together at the plaza which is right under the Georiga Viaduct.
Once upon a time Vancouver had some of the best terrain for street skating in the world, all within a few blocks in the office district of downtown. The building owners eventually got hip to what was going on and consequently capped everything that was skateable. The party was over.
Luckily Vancouver Parks and Rec have always supported skateboarding, and after a lot of hard work, the Plaza was born, the first park that's not a park....it's a gem that every other city in the world would kill for....
Over the years, it's taken it's fair share of abuse, it's probably the most used parks facility in the city, and so it was in need of a face lift, DC has gotten the ball rolling by bucking up $10,000.00!
