"Colin Moore is a designer, illustrator, graphic artist, painter, community builder, igloo builder, idea follow-through'er, indulger of 80's nostalgia and just generally a good human being. For a few years, he was my roommate. We played a lot of Mario-Kart in that time (original SNES version, of course). He has designed countless gig posters, logos, album covers and tattoos for other artisans. He has also worked 9-5 office jobs where he did things like photoshop the faces of famous people on to the bodies of non-famous people. If you live in Vancouver and you have functioning eyes, you have seen some of his art, if only on the side of a building or poster pole - guaranteed, no question. I've always appreciated Colin's ability to unabashedly delight in the excitement of other people, and his uninhibited enthusiasm to share and promote the community he comes from. Go, Colin, go.
Sincerely,
Dan Mangan"
THE PROOF:
1. Blue plate special. I like to have a good breakfast when I get up (after 10) and cook up a storm in the kitchen with the roommate. A fantastic way to start the day (that rhymes)!!!
2. There is nothing like flipping the pages of a good book. I'm not much of a google searcher for image references and this has led to a full bookshelf. Now I just have to find a space for my encyclopedias.
3. What better way to read a book than in a hammock? There isn't. Oh and these hammocks you can find in the heart of Vancouver at The Hang Out Place on Granville Island! Everyone should own one of these, you will never regret the decision in your life. That's the truth.
4. If I haven't written down my ideas in my sketchbook, while sitting in my hammock after reading books, they get pinned up to this cork board.
5. To the drawing table!!!
6. Yes, I do ride Mongo Goofy! Riding my Vancouver based Rayne Longbord (the Avenger) with an original SUEME grip tape job.
7. I tend to sit here a lot waiting for my bus to take me down to Seattle. Did you know that Greyhound has a sign that says "Greyhound! Prices that make long distance relationships possible!" It takes 4 hours but it's a $48 round trip!!
8. My muse. She keeps me in line and takes me to fairs and loves mexican food!
THE QUESTIONS:
What do you do and where?
I am a freelance illustrator and graphic artist in Vancouver, BC. I am a born and raised Vancouverite and love my city, especially working with all the amazing bands and companies we have. Illustrate lots and lots of concert posters, I design the occasional longboard graphic and when people ask me to draw things I like to do it in crayon.
What neighborhood do you live in?
Main Street of course on the East Side of Vancouver thank you very much.
What are you working on?
Right now I am working on lots and lots of logos. It seems to be that time for people to start up companies and I LOVE doing logos! Also working on a lot of personal stuff and getting ready for the Naughty/Evil Toy show at the Fall Gallery in December. Think PLUSH!
Where can we find your work?
Right now I have a few paintings up at the Chapel Arts in the Across the Board 2 show. I've got big plans so that you can find more of my work, keep an eye out :)
