Jane Koo is a lovely girl and friend. Inspired by the wonder and amazement of Julie Andrews, she is presently a freelance designer/illustrator whose bright and colourful work can be seen in some very Vancouver institutions. Although she has been calling Seoul & Vancouver home for the last 8 years, this ECU grad can be seen this summer sauntering the aisles of local grocery stores or on the sidelines at the tennis courts around the city sipping a refreshing Pimms! - Mariz Manansala

The Proof

1. I had an amazing childhood growing up in Seoul, Korea. I had no idea how big and awesome that city really was until I left there and went back!
2. My workplace/nook located in the corner of my living room.
3. This is the cookbook I designed while in school. I basically made my mum to teach me how to cook classic Korean dishes via snail mail, and in return, I taught her a few dishes I'd like to make for myself. We talked about it, I turned it into a book and titled it Pan Pals. I like them puns.
4. I like making little things whenever I can, these are felt owl pins I call Owloos.
5. My favourite mode of transportation around the city. It's the best way to get from A to B these days!
6. I spend a lot of time in my kitchen. Here you see the oatmeal coconut chocolate chip cookies I baked last weekend.
7. My mini indoor garden, because I don't have a patio. I have an awesome aunt who has everything in her garden from a cherry tree to cilantro, and my goal is to one day top her garden. One can dream.
8. The seawall is such a lovely place to hang out. Just add friends and a little sunshine!

The Questions

1. What neighborhood do you live in?
South Granville, what a lovely neighbourhood!

2. What do you do and where?
I am a freelance designer and illustrator working from a modest corner studio in my apartment or in a Gastown studio rented by my lovely friends.

3. What are you working on?
As a freelance designer, I am working with a couple of local not-for-profit organizations at the moment. Personally, I am constantly trying to make new prints and such. Right now, I am working on a project - slowly but surely - involving the provinces and territories of Canada! Actually, if anyone is interested in emailing me the list of little things that represent their home province/territory—for example, wheat for SK, wild rose for AB etc.,that would be amazing! (Thank you!)

4. Where can we find your work?
My website www.janekoo.com and my blog www.janekoo.com/journal
