Vancouver artist shows what a Darth Vader flyby would look like near Stanley Park

Star Wars in Stanley Park Vancouver
David Aste is an artist based out of Vancouver who has an ongoing series where he places Star Wars vehicles in and around the waters of Stanley Park.

As part of an ongoing series, a local artist has recreated what one of the most iconic scenes in the original Star Wars trilogy would look like just off Stanley Park.

David Aste is back with another of his pieces that blend our galaxy with one far, far away. Aste’s latest work is reminiscent of a piece Vancouver Is Awesome featured last year of the Millennium Falcon making a water landing just off Prospect Point. This time Aste’s work features two TIE fighters on either side of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1 which is slicing a path through the water. The scene gives us serious trench run vibes from Episode IV - A New Hope.

“Since they’re new to the city figured at least one of his fighters had to be on the license program… right?” Aste wrote of his most recent work, hinting at some ICBC-specific markings on the spacecraft. (Can you spot it?)

This is Aste’s fourth piece in a series of 10 he has yet to find a name for, he told V.I.A last year.

“The idea is to showcase what it would look like if instead of another distant planet, it was Vancouver the one at the centre of the action,” he said.
