Access to portion of popular Vancouver beach blocked for Disney+ film set

The TV show, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, is going under another name during filming.

Another Vancouver film set is slated to transform a portion of a popular local beach this week.

Percy Jackson Series Ltd. will film scenes for the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a Disney+ series streaming series, at Spanish Banks on Thursday, Sept. 19 and Friday.

According to Disney+, Percy Jackson embarks on a "dangerous quest" across America to return Zeus’s master bolt and prevent a massive war. He has a couple of quest mates on his journey to lead him closer to discovering his destiny in a world where he feels he doesn't belong.

The show is going under the pseudonym "Mink Golden 2" while it is in production.

Filming will take place at the Spanish Banks west extension near the off-leash dog area. The film crew will be in the area preparing for the production on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The company notified beach visitors that the production requires both "land and water scenes requiring a partial beach closure" from Monday through 7 a.m. on Saturday.

On Monday, a portion of Third Beach was closed for filming of Upload starring Robbie Amell. The set design included tropical-looking decor with white cabanas and thatched-roof beach huts.
