Access to part of popular Vancouver beach blocked for tropical film set

The set features tropical-looking decor with white cabanas and thatched-roof beach huts.

Locals headed to a popular Vancouver beach may see some scenes filmed for a popular TV series.

Upload stars Robbie Amell as a man who chooses his afterlife after his "untimely death by having his consciousness uploaded into a virtual world," according to Imdb.com.

Reunion Upload Productions Inc. notified residents of filming on Stanley Park's Third Beach on Monday, Sept. 16, noting that scenes would involve "extensive set dressing." Access to parts of the beach will be limited during filming.

A picture shared by Vancouverite Lukáš Lyžičiar on X, formerly Twitter, shows a tropical-looking decor with white cabanas and thatched-roof beach huts.

Equipment for the shoot arrived on Sept. 13 in work trucks and was stored through the weekend "on the beach per the on-site Vancouver Board of Parks liaison." Five-tonne work trucks and other vehicles dropped off equipment along the access path north of the concession.

The crew prepared the area for filming on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., sectioning off part of the beach to place the set decoration. They returned Monday at 4 a.m. and prepared the set for filming until 7 a.m.

Filming commenced at 7 a.m. on Monday at Third Beach and is expected to continue until 9 p.m. The crew is expected to pack up and leave the area at 10 p.m.

The crew is expected to restore the area from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
