Volume 16: Langara College's Professional Photo-Imaging 2011 Grad Show at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre on May 7, 2011. More photos available on Flickr.
I was invited to Langara's Professional Photo-Imaging student grad show and trekked to Yaletown two-thirds through the Canucks game to check it out. Full disclosure: I currently have a contract with the college writing and doing web work for them.
I obviously love photography, artwork, and exhibits, especially from emerging talents. I made a special effort to check out the student work after the great show put on by the Design Formation grads also from Langara. This was another fine showcase of art and talent.
I am going to be light on words and let the student's photography and work speak for themselves.
Sorry for all the Dutch angles. I am not entirely sure what I was going for. Taking photos of other photos head on can be a little pedestrian so I tried some hard angles and used a few art filters. I probably did a tad too much of it.
I was impressed by the professional look of all the work. The students had a diverse amount of subjects and topics in their work.
I continue to be floored by the amount of talent in the Vancouver art community both from professionals, students, and amateurs alike. Some of the themes, angles, lighting, and imagery photographed were quite intriguing. I did, however, wish there were more risks and inventiveness displayed.
Cheers and congratulations to the graduating class on their impressive photography work. I hope to see more of their work in the future.
