A concert in Vancouver this summer will transport locals to a time when we believed in movie magic.
Sound the Alarm, a B.C.-based music-theatre company, is touring the province starting in May with a show highlighting the greatest musical hits from Disney and Hollywood films.
"A Whole New World" has booked a show for mid-June at the Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre — located in Vancouver's Oakridge neighbourhood.
Eight vocalists will take centre stage for "A Whole New World," including three who call Vancouver home: Aaron Durand, Adam Fisher, and Tainui Kuru.
"With a live band and celebrated professional cast of singers, this concert experience will delight audiences of all ages," reads a description of the show on Sound the Alarm's website.
Vancouver will be the penultimate stop on Sound the Alarm's 24-city tour.
The concert will include a full slate of iconic songs split into two acts:
Act One — Disney
Vocalists will put the spotlight on classic numbers from Disney movies including The Lion King, Frozen, Mary Poppins, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, The Aristocats, Aladdin, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, and more.
Act Two — Hollywood
The second half will feature hits from timeless musical phenomenons like Wicked, The Sound Of Music, Les Miserables, Grease, Mamma Mia, La La Land, Moulin Rouge, The Greatest Showman and more.
