Vancouver filming locations: TV show takes over major city crosswalk

The production is for a new CBS medical series.

Vancouverites might spot stars on the film set of a new detective show in the downtown core.

First Cut Productions Inc. notified residents in and around the 1000-block of West Hastings of filming on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Filming will occur at the Oxford Buildings and on the crosswalk by the Guinness Tower (see slides two and three).

The company notes that the Oxford Parkades will remain available during filming but drivers should expect delays. Third-party traffic controllers will also replace the crosswalk.

The production is for a new CBS medical series called Watson, following the affairs of detective Sherlock Holmes' famous companion.

According to Variety, the show takes place a year after the death of Holmes by his archnemesis Moriarty, as Watson continues to treat patients for rare disorders.

Watson filmed scenes in Yaletown's Emery Barnes Park in August, employing picture lighting and atmospheric smoke to achieve an atmosphere on set.
