The International Women's Day March is returning to Vancouver on March 8, 2025.

The International Women's Day March's return to Vancouver next month will celebrate and amplify "the diversity of women" in the community.

The annual event will take place on International Women's Day (IWD), Saturday, March 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl'e7énḵ Square.

Organizers said the downtown walk from the north plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery will recognize self-identifying women's and non-binary individuals' contributions to society.

"We will call on our allies to recognize our struggles and fight alongside us," organizers state on the IWD March Vancouver website.

"We want to create awareness of the issues self-identifying women face in our city," added a statement from organizers. "We stand for equity and organize around the values of intersectional feminism, solidarity, coalitional politics, community-led, and bravery.

"These are often empty words, but in everything we do, we strive to consider how each of those values affects the individual communities that make up our larger community of self-identified women."

Organizers also recently launched new social media pages in anticipation of the 2025 march.

Several community leaders are slated to speak after an Indigenous welcome ceremony. As of now, this includes (in alphabetical order):

  • Kara Gillies, WISH Drop In Centre Society
  • Judith Kasiama, Colour the Trails
  • Tara Teng, embodiment coach and author

IWD March Vancouver's release explained a full speaker list, as well as the complete march route, will be unveiled ahead of the event.

The event is supported by the Simon Fraser (SFU) Student Society Women’s Centre and SFU Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance.
