If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome. |
Here's something totally different you can do (with kids in tow!), that's completely FREE: Sonic Playground. Presented alongside BC Youth Week, this is a week-long festival of "sonic concoctions" made by youth, in partnership with prominent musicians and sound artists. From May 2-7 between 11-4 you can check out their installation at the Roundhouse Community Centre with workshops, sound installations, open rehearsals, instrument-making, and live-sampling creations. In the evenings on May 5 & 6 there is a double-header performance of these students' final projects. The performance is free, but requires pre-registration.
