The Vancouver Pride Parade will bring vibrant floats, dancing and displays of love to city streets over the BC Day long weekend.
Over 100,000 attendees are expected to turn out on Sunday, Aug. 4 for the annual Pride Parade, a highlight of Vancouver's Pride weekend events.
The parade kicks off at noon and runs until 4 p.m., featuring over 100 local community groups, non-profit organizations, businesses and more showcasing their support for the 2SLGBTQAI+ communities.
Attendees can view the parade from three accessible viewing zones or enjoy the fun from a VIP viewing area. Six hosts will lead the colourful display through the city streets.
The Pride Parade route kicks off at the intersection of Denman and Davie Street, will continue along Beach Avenue, and finish at Concord Pacific Place (across from BC Place).
VanPrideFest will transform the outdoor space at Concord Pacific Place into a "spectacular drag extravaganza" showcasing local favourites, global drag stars, and a surprise takeover by Quill Collective on Saturday, Aug. 3.
Canada’s Drag Race royalty, Season 4 winner Venus, and other winners and alumni will perform on the TD main stage.
On Sunday, festival-goers can dance the night away at a massive dance party headlined by Rêve and featuring LU KALA, Witch Prophet, NADUH, and BoiBnd.

Vancouver police will work throughout the West End during the Pride Parade
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) plans to deploy extra officers and advises attendees to prepare for large crowds and traffic disruptions.
“Our role is to maintain a safe environment for people to gather and celebrate Pride,” says Const.Tania Visintin. “We will have additional officers working throughout the West End and the downtown core to help ensure that people can safely enjoy the celebration.”
VPD officers will re-direct vehicle traffic away from the parade route, help manage the large crowds, and respond immediately if public safety concerns arise.
VPD recommends the following tips to ensure parade attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience:
- Plan ahead and get there early. Moving around will be challenging due to the number of people attending. Arriving early will ensure you get a good spot along the parade route.
- Anticipate significant traffic disruptions and limited parking. Consider taking transit.
- For those attending with small children, establish a meeting point in case you get separated. Consider writing the name and phone number of a parent on a piece of paper and putting it in your child’s pocket, and encouraging them to approach a police officer if they need help.
- If you need help, flag down a VPD officer or call 911 in an emergency.
