Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell made an appearance at a Vancouver Whitecaps game over the weekend -- but he wasn't supporting the local team.
The beloved Elf star was spotted at the playoff match between the Whitecaps and the Los Angeles FC on Sunday, Nov. 5. He's a part owner of the California-based Major League Soccer (MLS) club and they beat the Whitecaps (the final score was 1-0).
The match was also the final one of the season for the Whitecaps. The LAFC, who are the reigning MLS Cup champions, advanced to the Western Conference semifinals.
The MLS shared a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, of the hilarious megastar having pre-game chats with some of the players at BC Place.

Fans react to Will Ferrell sighting at Vancouver Whitecaps playoff match
Several locals chimed in on Ferrell's local appearance in the comments below the post, with several of them remarking that he was booed for supporting his L.A. team. One fan said he heard people booing but added: "He’s the co-owner, but we still love him."
Another fan said someone should tell the popular actor that Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko had several of his movie characters featured on his hockey masks.
I was at the game as a caps fan, and some people booed him, and others like me, were like: He’s the co-owner, but we still love him😂ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Former B.C. premier Christy Clark was also at the playoff match. She shared a couple of photos from the event on social media, quipping that she couldn't believe she "just booed Mugatu," which was Ferrell's role as the outrageous super-villain in the popular film Zoolander starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.

However, Ferrell has shared love for local sports teams in the past. In February 2022, the actor rocked a bright-orange BC Lions jersey at the Superbowl while he was hanging out with Vancouver's own Ryan Reynolds.
