Since the summer of 2005, Nishiki Sushi has been on the corner of Victoria Street and East 49th Avenue.
For almost two decades they served rolls, cones, and sashimi along with donburi and udon dishes. But that changed this summer as the long-time sushi spot shuttered.
However, it seems locals won't have to go long without a sushi restaurant on the corner.
Signage and city documents show a new restaurant, called Poplar, is moving in.
The signs also indicate Poplar will be serving up sushi, just like its predecessor, along with BBQ foods.
Aside from the signs up for the new restaurant, there's little indication of what is planned. Inside renovations are clearly in full swing. Poplar does not appear to have any online footprint yet.
