An American pizzeria known for its absolutely massive pizzas is opening its first B.C. location soon.
The Trees coffee shop at 2655 Arbutus St. closed recently and signs are up for Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria (BMPP), announcing the chain is "coming soon."
BMPP is famous for its massive pizzas and pizza slices. On the windows of the Kitsilano location, an advertisement states they have "the largest deliverable pizza in the world" at 54 inches. It has 200 slices.
They also have the Big Papa Slice on the menu, which stretches up to 54 inches long.
The L.A.-based pizza chain was founded in 1992 by brothers Aro and Allen Agakhanyan; since then, around 20 BMPPs have opened in California. Edmonton was the first location outside of Los Angeles. Locations in Ontario and Saskatchewan are incoming.
In 2014, the chain found viral fame when Ellen DeGeneres ordered a few pizzas while hosting the Oscars, and had them delivered on live TV.
