Bellies are full, and ballots are counted: The 2018 Chinese Restaurant Awards have just revealed the winners of this year's Diners' Choice Awards.
The list spotlights what we, the eating public, loves the most in Metro Vancouver when it comes to Chinese and Taiwanese fare, from soulful hot pot to fancy dim sum spots.
An impressive 35,219 votes were cast between February 5 and March 4 over multiple platforms.
New categories for the awards' 10th anniversary include Best Peking Duck, Best Shanghainese Stir Fry Egg White, Best Sichuan Mouthwatering Chicken, and Best Spring Rolls.
Those new categories join the standard array, which includes things like Best Hot Pot Restaurant, Best Hong Kong-style Café, Best Congee and Noodle Restaurant, Best Food Court Stall, Best New Restaurant, Best Cantonese Restaurant, Best Dim Sum Restaurant, and many more.

In addition to Diners’ Choice, the Chinese Restaurant Awards feature the Critics’ Choice Signature Dish categories, which are decided on by a panel of local food personalities. Those winners will be announced–and everyone honoured–at an event and awards ceremony in May.
