For food lovers who seek out the best of the best in dining out, take note of the just-released 2018 Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list. There are 19 Vancouver restaurants included this year, and three others elsewhere in B.C. that made the cut.
The 2018 Canada's 100 Best list doesn't show too much movement or change when it comes to restaurants representing Vancouver. The highest ranked is Kissa Tanto, in 10th position, which is a few spots up from its debut in 2017 on the list in 14th place.
Hawksworth dropped to 11th place this year (it was 6th last year), and spots like Savio Volpe, Vij's, Cioppino's, AnnaLena, Ask For Luigi, Nightingale, L'Abattoir, Maenam, Cinara, Masayoshi, Le Crocodile, and Blue Water all return to the rankings for 2018.
Others joining the list this year are St. Lawrence (20), Bao Bei (55), Botanist (60), Burdock & Co (66), and Burnaby's The Pear Tree (73).
Overall, the Vancouver restaurants included represent the most noteworthy of 2017 openings along with some high-level enduring and recent favourites.
Elsewhere in B.C. places like Galiano Island's Pilgrimme (79), Tofino's Wolf in the Fog (85), and Victoria's Agrius (93) made the list. There's been zero movement on the list from 2017 to 2018 in the top three: Toronto's Alo, and Montreal's Toqué! and Joe Beef.
Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list is compiled by a meld of expert and informed opinions from not only the nation's food critics, seasoned diners, and food industry insiders.
