The grilled cheese sandwich at Yew seafood + bar recently got a name change, celebrating Vancouver real estate luminary and art collector, Bob Rennie. This restaurant has become known as the place where Vancouver business does lunch, and Bob has made no secret of the fact that he catches this meal there most weekdays. He's got a regular table reserved close to where business legend Joe Segal has been getting lunch for decades and in fact in Joe's biography, Lunch With Joe, he talked about how he was influenced by the senior business leader and his lunch habit.
Over the years Bob's favourite dish at Yew has come to be Chef Ned Bell's grilled cheese, and he orders it almost every time he visits. It became known as "The Rennie" on their menu at the beginning of this month (and I just noticed today). It's made up of slices of aged farmhouse cheddar on Terra Breads' sourdough with a parmesan crisp, served with a housemade heirloom tomato soup, and it'll cost you $23.
