Local chicken wing chain Wings is expanding with the upcoming addition of a new restaurant location in downtown Vancouver.
Called Wings Tap + Social, the Burnaby-based franchise is moving into the space at 580 Pender St (at Seymour) in what had previously been a short-lived Browns Crafthouse.
Wings has been around since 2001, and now has over a dozen locations in British Columbia.
The restaurant prides itself on being about a fun dining experience and a destination for its signature award-winning chicken wings, which can be tossed in any of 28 sauces.
Wings is also known for its infamous "Bobby Wing" challenge: A super fiery hot wing tossed in a sauce made with a dozen peppers that requires guests to sign a waiver before consuming.
The Vancouver location may be a slight departure from the usual offering, though it isn't immediately clear what its "Tap + Social" branding means. Wings Tap + Social also has its own Instagram account @wingstapsocial, though as of right now it has no posts or info.
It appears that beers on tap will feature prominently on the drinks menu on Pender Street.
"Welcome to Vancouver Downtown's latest family restaurant," reads the location's webpage on the Wings site. "We are working hard and will be opening soon!"
The new location seems to be in its early days of renovation, as the site looks the same as it did following Browns Crafthouse's exit.
The forthcoming location marks the first foray for the brand into Vancouver proper, though there are Wings outposts in Metro Vancouver, in spots like Surrey, Richmond, and Port Moody.
V.I.A. has reached out several times to the Wings head office to ask about the new Vancouver location but has not received any response.
