Spring is in the air and Easter is hopping onto our calendars at March comes to an end, with the big "Bunny" set to sneak treats into baskets for sweet discovery on Sunday, March 31.
When the Easter Bunny deploys their household helpers to procure the goodies, those who are shopping for terrific treats in and around Vancouver have lot of locally-made chocolates, candies, and pastries to choose from.
Additionally, many of Vancouver's bakeries and restaurants are offering Easter eats and treats to enjoy as part of the holiday celebration, from brunch buffets to themed tea sets to baked goods.
Here are some egg-cellent Easter-time eats and treats to find in and around Vancouver in March 2024.
Beaucoup Bakery
Beaucoup's new Easter Collection features hot cross buns, cookie decorating kits, chocolate bonbons, and a seasonal croissant. Guests can start pre-ordering the delicious treats starting March 18 for pick-up at both its Fairview and Downtown locations, from March 18 until April 7.
The Bench Bakehouse
Commercial Drive's Bench Bakehouse has Easter breads and sweets available for pre-order online to pick up in the shop by March 31 (they are closed April 1). They have Easter stollen, paska, passionfruit cake, "Eggie" cookies, and hot cross buns (including chocolate ones).
Purdys
Vancouver's own beloved Purdys Chocolatier’s 2024 Easter collection features new Easter treats as well as a few familiar favourites, including: Milk Chocolate Foiled Eggs, Barnaby Bunny, and an Easter Classics Gift Box (16 pieces). They are also doing a vegan chocolate spring egg in dark or mylk chocolate. This year, the storied local chocolate company is spotlighting its mischievous mascot, Philbert. available as an adorable plushie.
Faubourg
Fauboug's charming Easter 2024 collection includes a "Flower Power" cake, an Earl Grey Easter "chick" and an Easter Brioche Bunny. Order ahead online.
La Glace
Vancouver's acclaimed French-inspired ice cream parlour has a Mini Egg Ice Cream Cake and a Cream Egg Ice Cream Cake available to pre-order from their pretty shop. Pop in for a scoop or pint of their seasonal Mini Egg or Cream Egg ice creams, too.
BETA 5
Known for whimsical and creative seasonal offerings, this year the Vancouver treat-maker has an egg-themed "Sunny Side Up" collection, peanut butter eggs, and polygon eggs in three flavours: Strawberry Shortcake, Carrot Cake, and Caramel S'more. Here's a tip from BETA5 to ensure you aren't disappointed: "If the items you're looking for are out of stock, look out for weekly restocks on Sunday evenings...or, if you'd prefer to shop in our café, our shelves will be fully stocked with all of our Easter creations every morning when we open!"
Purebread
For Easter, Purebread has large cakes and its shareable "big cookies" decked out spring colours with chocolatey mini eggs available for pre-order, along with babycakes, fun cakes covered in sprinkles, and hot cross buns. You'll need to pick up your treats on the Easter long weekend.
Rain or Shine
Just in time for Easter, Rain or Shin will be scooping its fan favourite Egg Hunt: A decadent milk chocolate dairy base with crushed mini eggs throughout. It's now available in pints and scoops at all stores.
Goldilocks Bake Shop
This Filipino mainstay is cooking up an eggs-stravaganza of sweet and savoury options for Easter, featuring a variety of handcrafted confections, Easter egg surprises, and a delicious Silog Brunch for the whole family to enjoy. Guests can pre-order now for pick-up until March 26 at one of its two locations: 604-736-7744 in Burnaby or 604-876-2464 in Vancouver, or by emailing [email protected]. Walk-in orders are also available.
Mister
Mister has Milo and Mini Egg ice cream this month for an egg-citing cold treat. Check online to see when it's being scooped at its Kits or Yaletown shops.
Sweet Thea
Looking for traditional hot cross buns for Easter? Head to the new Sweet Thea bakery cafe on Main Street to fine them (along with other baked goods). You can pre-order six-packs online.
Thomas Haas
The renowned local bakeshop with locations in Vancouver and North Vancouver has an adorable 2024 Easter lineup with chocolate lollipops, a Crispy Gianduja Egg, bunnies, flower pots, chocolate eggs, and plenty of beautiful gift boxes.
Ladurée
Enjoy Easter treats Parisian-style! Ladurée in Vancouver has a limited-edition Nymphea Raspberry Verbena cake (available now through March 31), new Eugénie flavours and classic macaron boxes. Easter brunch will be served from March 29-31 at the Robson Street Tea Salon.
Thierry
Chef Thierry Busset's 2024 Easter collection is available for pre-order (pick-up through April 1) and features Thierry's collection of large and small eggs made from dark or milk chocolate and featuring an assortment of mini-coloured eggs with coconut, caramel, and passionfruit ganache filling inside. They also have hazelnut praline-filled bunnies or a colourful hen filled with Chef Thierry's signature chocolate-covered almonds.
Karameller
Swedish candy is enjoying global popularity right now thanks to social media, and locals have been flocking to Karameller's humble Kitsilano shop to pick up bags and jars of the special treats. You can also order online. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to know when they are running low or get a new shipment.
Temper Chocolate & Pastry
The latest collection of whimsical confections out of West Van's celebrated Temper includes Easter eggs and bunnies, stollen, truffles, hot cross buns and showpiece creations. Temper’s signature Easter treats will be available for purchase online and in-store at the café starting March 15 while quantities last and can be pre-ordered for advance pickup by calling the café at 604-281-1152.
The Pie Hole
Fewer treats signify it's Easter in Vancouver than The Pie Hole's stunning Mini Egg Chocolate Cream pie. Order this seasonal gem up to pick up from its current shop locations: Burnaby and Langley.
Chez Christophe
The chocolatier, with locations in Burnaby Heights and White Rock, is known for its signature handcrafted chocolate showpieces, mini chocolate eggs and dragee, themed cakes, and limited-edition croissants. The entire collection is now available for pre-order online and in-store, with select pickup dates starting from March 15. Special items include the Hoppy Bunny and Chickie Mama as well as full-size cakes and a carrot cake-inspired croissant.
Mon Paris
From whimsical chocolate eggs in soft soothing pastels or vibrant Pollock-esque patterns, to cute chocolate duck lollipops and whirlybirds, Mon Paris Pâtisserie's 2024 Easter Collection promises to enchant every palate. Their treats, like the Abstract Easter Eggs and Easter Morning Pastry Boxes, are available now for advance online ordering and in-store pickup from the Mon Paris shop in Burnaby.
Glenburn Soda Fountain
This old school ice cream parlour in Burnaby Heights is worth hopping over to for its March Easter-themed scoop special: Easter Egg Hunt (vanilla cheesecake base, mini eggs, crème eggs and marshmallow Peeps).
Brunches, Afternoon Tea, and Easter meals
Bacchus
Guests can enjoy a special three-course Easter Sunday Brunch on March 31 its popular Afternoon Tea, available on both March 30 and 31 for seasonal feasting. Bacchus’s exquisite Easter Brunch ($72 per person) features a Table d'Hote Menu by Executive Chef Stefan Hartmann. Guests can experience a variety of sweet and savoury bites during Bacchus’s themed Easter Afternoon Tea ($72 per person), complete with seasonal decor, available on March 30 or 31 at 2 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be booked online.
Dockside
An Easter Brunch Buffet takes centre stage at the popular Granville Island destination on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's priced at $89 per person plus tax and gratuity for adults, $45 for children 6 to 12 years old and complimentary for those aged five and under. The Easter feast includes an array of hot and cold favourites and traditional fare, fresh seafood, charcuterie and cheese boards, a yogurt parfait station and chocolate fountain, fresh-baked pastries and desserts, an interactive cookie decorating station for kids, elevated add-ons that include freshly shucked oysters, crab legs and tableside steak tartare, and more.
Glowbal
Talk about a feast for the season! Glowbal will have an all-you-can-eat Easter Sunday Brunch Buffet on Sunday, March 31 at its Downtown Vancouver flagship restaurant. From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., enjoy a festive Easter feast that features hot and cold dishes like Braised Short Rib Eggs Benedict and Brunch Poutine; a chilled seafood buffet; omelette, prime beef striploin carving and Eggs Benny stations; desserts and much more. Available for $85 per person plus tax and $35 per person for kids 12 and under, the Easter Sunday Brunch Buffet will also feature brunch classics like waffles and pancakes, fresh fruit, sausages, and bacon. Be sure to reserve a seat, as this is expected to sell out.
Railtown Catering
Railtown Catering team will be creating their famous Easter To-Go Packages, available for pickup or delivery on March 31 and April 1. These traditional multi-course dinners need only to be reheated and served. The centrepiece of the feast is a slow-cooked and pre-sliced Honey-Glazed Ham. Sides include scalloped potatoes with gruyère; roasted root vegetables with shallots, mushrooms, and white asparagus; and Hot Cross Buns served with whipped butter and rhubarb crumble. Tantalizing add-ons are available. The festive feasts come in small (feeds 4-6) and large (feeds 10-12) sizes for $299 and $439 plus tax, respectively. The packages are also available to be picked up hot and ready to eat for an extra charge of $50.
Honey Salt
Families can gather on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Honey Salt for an Easter brunch feast that will include an array of classic favourites and contemporary West Coast fare, carving, omelette and dessert stations — including a candy table for kids of all ages to enjoy — and a visit from the Easter Bunny themselves. They'll also have a DIY Mimosa Station.
H2 Kitchen + Bar
H2 Kitchen + Bar at The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver is bringing back its beloved Easter Brunch Buffet on Sunday, March 31. The 'eggstraordinary' feast will include fresh, colourful salads, mouthwatering hot entrées, and signature brunch favourites, like blueberry pancakes, wild mushroom tortellini, and an interactive chef station with eggs Benedict variations, and a ham carvery. Desserts include Easter cupcakes, New York-style cheesecake, a chocolate fountain with all the fixings, and more. Kids can also hop over to the live bunny interaction station located in the hotel lobby, starting at 11 a.m. The brunch is priced at $82 for adults and $40 for children aged 6-12 (plus taxes and 18% gratuity). Children under 5 eat for free.
