Vancouver recently lost another taco place, the second in two months.
Don Oso's closed its Commercial Drive location on Jan. 27, 2025, three years after opening. They moved into the space at 1305 Commercial Dr. in January of 2022.
"Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, with the rising operating costs these days, we've been unable to overcome financial challenges in these hard times," reads a post on the Don Oso's Restaurant's Instagram account.
The business specifically highlights its lease.
"With a 150 per cent increase to our lease, this has not only made it unattainable, but impossible," reads the post.
They go on to thank the neighbourhood and Vancouver.
"While this is a sad goodbye, we will always treasure the memories and connections we've made," reads the post. "Don Oso's Vancouver will forever be a part of our family's journey, and we hope that one day our paths may cross again."
Prior to Don Oso's, that location was the Storm Crow Tavern.
Recently, La Cantina de Don Porfirio closed down in Mount Pleasant.
The Mexican restaurant still has its original location in Burnaby at 4421 Hastings St.
