Shizenya once had three locations across Vancouver but will soon be down to one as its West Broadway restaurant is closing before the end of May 2024.

After more than 10 years on West Broadway, Shizenya is shuttering.

The Japanese restaurant, which focuses on organic ingredients and vegetarian-friendly options, will be closing its location at 1333 W Broadway on May 26.

"Through the Shizenya on Broadway, we have shared many wonderful memories with the local community," states the restaurant's management on Shizenya's social media pages. "Our encounters with our customers have been precious to us and will remain in our hearts for many years to come."

Once the Broadway restaurant closes, Shizenya, which at one point had three Vancouver locations, will be down to one: 965 Hornby St (relocated in 2017 from the original Hornby space). A Denman location, which opened in 2018, only stayed open into 2022, when it quietly closed.

The Hornby location is operating as normal.

Shizenya is known for its sushi made using organic brown rice and quinoa, with plentiful veggie options.

"We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and understanding. We sincerely wish you all the best," reads the post.
