A South Korean hot dog chain with a "cult following" has expanded to Canada with its first location, which is in downtown Vancouver.
Juicy & 88 Hotdog, which operates over 800 shops in South Korea, is in "soft open" mode as of March 31, 2023 at #1-1725 Robson St.
The smoothie and hot dog restaurant now occupies the space vacated by Kaneko Hannosuke.
"The Vancouver location will feature Juicy & 88 Hotdog's classic menu items, including the famous Korean corn dogs that have earned a cult following," describes a press release for the venture.
Juicy & 88 Hotdog's menu features a line-up of smoothies and juices made with fresh ingredients, from Avocado & Banana to Strawberry Yogurt, alongside bubble tea and coffee and tea drinks.
On the hot dog side, 88 Hotdog features Korean hot dogs, the popular street food creation akin to a corn dog that features a hot dog-style beef sausage or cheese (or both) dipped in a slightly sweet batter and deep fried. One option is to get the popular potato-crusted coating option, which 88 Hotdog offers.
Customers can enjoy Juicy & 88 Hotdog for dine-in or take-out.
This style of Korean hot dog (on a stick) has enjoyed growing popularity in Vancouver, particularly via rival franchise Chung Chun, which has several locations across Metro Vancouver.
To mark the grand opening of Canada's first Juicy & 88 Hotdog restaurant in Vancouver, the business is doing some special promos, so you can score a deal.
You'll find select juices (Strawberry & Banana, Mango & Banana, Pineapple Banana) offered for a Buy-One-Get-One-Free (BOGO) deal on April 6 and 7; BOGO bubble tea and smoothies (Brown Sugar Bubble Tea with Pearls, Strawberry Fruit Tea with Pearls, Mango Yogurt Smoothie) on April 8 and 9 and $2.99 Korean-Style Corn Dogs (88 Hotdog - Signature All Beef Flavour, Half Mozzarella & Beef, Half Cheddar Cheese & Beef) April 6 through 9 (maximum two per person).
