A newly opened Vancouver restaurant has already closed and there's a legal notice on the door.

Two restaurants with the same ownership appear to have closed in quick succession on Granville Street.

And now there's a legal notice on the door.

The notice is posted on the entrance to Maneki Neko Sake Bar, which was located on the second floor of 2993 Granville St. in Fairview. The restaurant's name may not be familiar as it appears to have only opened in December of 2024.

Prior to that, it was Mr 2993 Granville, a hot pot and BBQ place.

Mr 2993 Granville didn't last long, opening sometime in the spring of 2024 and closing in the winter or fall of the same year.

On the city business licenses database, the same numbered corporation is listed as the owner for both Maneki Neko Sake Bar and Mr 2993 Granville. The notice claims $171,000 was owed in early February and that the property and items inside would be seized in the event the money wasn't paid.

The legal notice on the door is from a bailiff representing a property management company that was acting on behalf of another (different) numbered corporation.

No announcement has been posted online or at the restaurant as to the future of Maneki Neko Sake Bar, but social media accounts appear to have been deleted, its website isn't active, and the phone number for the business has been disconnected.

Previously the location, which is near the intersection with West 14th Avenue, was the home of Niu Niu BBQ, Kyo Korean BBQ and Sushi House, and Shabusen Japanese Yakiniku House.
