Omnitsky's has been serving kosher fare and delicatessen eats in Vancouver since 1997, but as 2025 gets underway, the Oakridge-area shop will have a new location and a slightly different name.
Reuben's Deli by Omnitsky is under construction at 3435 Fraser St and will be the new home of Omnitsky's, which has now closed its 5775 Oak St home due to the site's redevelopment.
The Oak Street deli had been Omnitsky's since 2014, when the 1979-established business took over what had previously been Vancouver's beloved Kaplan's Deli after a 47-year run in the area. Omnitsky's closed its doors on Oak on October 2.
For Reuben's Deli, customers can expect Omnistky's range of kosher products and dine-in restaurant options, including items like Montreal smoked meat, deli meats, canned goods, bread, salads, pickles, and snacks. The cafe menu at Omnitsky's has typically offered breakfast plates, and casual kosher fare like burgers, all-beef hot dogs, sandwiches, chopped liver, and matzoh ball soup.
The new location will continue to offer catering services, which is a popular branch of the Omnitsky's business.
Reuben's Deli is aiming to open on Fraser Street in January 2025.
