After 20 years, the pub poured its last pint.

December 17, 2024: Johnnie Fox's Irish Pub at 1601 Main St in Vancouver has "for lease" signs up and locked doors. It appears the bar/restaurant ceased operations this fall.

It appears Johnnie Fox's Irish Pub poured its last pint sometime this fall, as the bar/restaurant at 1601 Main St has gone dark - and the space has "for lease" signs up.

The Johnnie Fox story began 20 years ago when it opened on the Granville strip. Around mid-2021, the hangout shared it was closing down its original spot in downtown Vancouver and moving to Main Street

Johnnie's took over what had previously been the Vancouver outpost of Whistler-based Dubh Linn Gate, another Irish pub.

However, the business has not posted on its social media since early October of this year and Google lists the pub as "permanently closed."

In June, Johnnie Fox's was ordered by the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch to close for three days for allowing people to play pool when it did not have an endorsement on its licence to allow such an activity. The June 3 ruling was based on reported findings of an October 2023 inspection.

Currently, the City of Vancouver's business licence database shows Johnnie Fox's licence is still active.
