It appeared on the first two years of Michelin Guide's list of recommended Vancouver restaurants

Arike, a Vancouver restaurant previously recommended by the Michelin Guide, quietly closed down near the end of 2024, and a new business has already opened in its place.

A West End Vancouver restaurant previously endorsed by the Michelin Guide has apparently closed permanently.

Arike, which resided at 1725 Davie St, closed its doors sometime around the end of last year. The restaurant did not share any news about the closure on its website or social media, which at this time is only a Facebook page last updated in early 2024.

While Google lists Arike as "Temporarily closed," the City of Vancouver's business licence database shows the restaurant and its affiliated catering wing as having "gone out of business."

In fact, a new Vietnamese restaurant, called Pho in Love, has been issued a business licence for the former Arike address. Pho in Love held its grand opening on Jan. 30.

Arike launched in March 2019, offering a high-end take on Nigerian cuisine prepared using Pacific Northwest ingredients.

In 2022, Arike was among the restaurants included on the inaugural Michelin Guide list of "recommended" Vancouver spots, appearing again on the list in 2023

However, in October 2024, when the Michelin Guide issued its updated third annual edition for the city, Arike was no longer included. The publication did not offer any explanation for Arike's removal from its recommendations.

V.I.A. has reached out to Arike via the email address listed on its website and Facebook page to ask about the closure and will update if any information is made available.
