You eat with your eyes first, so it stands to reason focusing on aesthetics is a strong move for a restaurant business. And that's probably one reason why Big Way Hot Pot bills itself as "the most beautiful hotpot in Burnaby" on its website.
With a location already drawing crowds at #7-4300 Kingsway in Burnaby, Big Way is already prepping a second Burnaby restaurant (also on Kingsway), a Richmond location (#123 -4940 Number 3 Rd), and the chain's first outpost in Vancouver proper.
Big Way Hot Pot is setting up shop at 778 Robson St in a former A&W location.
How Big Way sets itself apart is by having a gob-smacking number of options, all presented in a massive display, for diners to customize their hot pot meals. Choose from eight different soup bases and 100 ingredients, making for a "build-your-own" hot pot experience like none other.
Soup bases include Collagen Bone Broth, Szechuan Green Pepper, Tomato, or Tom Yum, as well as two "dry mixes." Ingredients to load into your soup range from all kinds of fishballs, an array of seafood and meats, as well as veggies and noodles. Though you may fantasize about going absolutely wild, be forewarned, this isn't AYCE; Big Way charges by weight, so your selections can add up.
In addition to the main attraction of bubbling soups for dipping all kinds of bites, Big Way is also beloved for its spiked bubble tea and soft serve ice cream for dessert.
Big Way's second Burnaby restaurant is opening sometime this month, while Vancouver and Richmond are "coming soon." Hot pot fans can follow @bigway.hotpot on Instagram for location updates.
