The hot pot (or hotpot) craze is stronger than ever, and in the case of one of Vancouver's newest spots, it's spicier than ever.
Super Thai Hotpot has entered the chat. Located at 3327 Kingsway in Renfrew-Collingwood, the brand-new restaurant boasts a sleek, modern interior with golden bowls for loading with guests' desired ingredients and the promise of spicy broth.
According to a job listing for Super Thai (which uses Hot Pot and Hotpot interchangeably) the new venture "is a vibrant dining destination specializing in Thai-style Mala Tang (spicy hot pot)."
Mala Tang is a style of hot pot that is popular in China's Sichuan province and is known for being numbingly hot.
The business says it "combines the bold flavours of traditional Thai cuisine with the intense heat of Mala spices, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for hot pot lovers."
To that end, signs at the restaurant proclaim it offers Coconut Tom Yum soup, too.
Customers serve themselves and the final assembled bowl is priced by weight before it is taken to the kitchen and cooked in the broth of choice.
Super Thai Hotpot has an Instagram account parked with no posts or details (@superthaihotpotvan). The restaurant does not appear to currently have a website.
The City of Vancouver issued Super Thai Hotpot's business licence on Jan. 23, 2025. The restaurant does not have a liquor licence.
There has been no official opening date announced for Super Thai Hotpot, though they appear ready or close to it.
According to Google, the restaurant hours are Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesday from 5-10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
