New mini donut shop with big club vibes opens in downtown Vancouver

The mini donut shop is like no other Vancoouver donut shop

Holi Doughnuts has opened in downtown Vancouver, creating a unique mini donut shop in the city's core.

Holi opened in December 2024 at 626 Seymour St. with a simple menu: only mini donuts. And only a few flavours at any one time.

There are always two legacy flavours: cinnamon sugar (which includes Chinese five spice) and a sour cream glaze.

Feature flavours will also appear on occasion; for example, right now Holi has a carrot cake mini donut and a chasu pork-inspired minidonut with chicharron (fried pork rind) available for a limited time.

There are also plans for a caviar crème fraîche mini donut, but while it's on the sign at the shop, it's not available yet. When it joins the line-up, it will be the sole mini-donut available to purchase individually or in sets of two.

The new spot is different from other donut shops in a few ways, aside from the focus solely on mini-donuts.

Inside the former Room in Order housewares store, the space has been uniquely decorated, more akin to a club or lounge than a classic donut shop. Purple velvet is draped on the sole "able and there is no display case. Instead, customers can chat with the clerk (who is set up at what resembles a DJ station) and look at framed portraits of donuts on the curtained walls before placing an order.

The mini donuts are made to order and are served up warm.

Donuts are available in-store and to order through Uber Eats. They only come in boxes of eight, 36, 50, or 120.

Holi is open Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (though they warn they may sell out and shut down for the day earlier).
