As Nordstrom begins its rapid fade from the entire Canadian market and operations enter the "wind down" phase in Vancouver at CF Pacific Centre, this also means the demise of treat destination Milk Bar, which will ultimately have enjoyed a mere four-month run.
The popular New York-based dessert brand created by celebrity pastry chef Christina Tosi and bolstered by culinary heavyweight David Chang (of Momofuku and Netflix fame) debuted in Vancouver on Nov. 18, 2022. However, as part of Nordstrom's exit from Canada, the store-in-store location is set to shutter March 15.
Located on level one of Nordstrom at the Granville and Georgia entrance, the "cult-favourite" treat company has had its full menu available in Vancouver, like cake truffles, cookies, and cereal milk soft serve. In addition to Milk Bar Vancouver's grab-and-go offerings, the shop sells cookbooks, cookie tins, and other assorted branded merch.
The Vancouver Milk Bar was the brand's first-ever full-service location in Canada and followed the Nordstrom in-store model that debuted in 2019 in New York City. Toronto had a mini-Milk Bar outpost that closed at the end of 2022.
For those needing a nearby Milk Bar fix, with passport in hand you'll have to head over the border; Nordstrom Bellevue Square in Bellevue, Washington will get its own Milk Bar, opening March 23, just days after Vancouver's closes.
In addition to Milk Bar, Nordstrom's only B.C. location is home to the upscale cafe Bistro Verde, a coffee counter, and an in-store bar. All of those food service options close March 15 as well.
