"Feed me tacos and tell me I'm pretty," reads a hot pink neon sign on the wall inside the new second location of Gringo.
The beloved irreverent Vancouver taco joint opened its doors just in time for Pride and the B.C. Day long weekend in the colourful West End.
Gringo 2.0 as its referred to has moved in at 1074 Davie St, in the former Beetbox space. The plant-based predecessor closed up shop on May 28 this year, after an October 2019 launch.
Partner Sean Davis of Wooden Table Hospitality tells V.I.A. in an email that the restaurant officially opened on Friday, July 29.
The Gringo 2.0 crew made short work of transforming the small space. "We did some painting and minor adjustments to the room," Davis explains, adding business partner Shoel Davidson, and his dad, Richard, "did an amazing job Gringo-izing the space in seven short weeks."
Gringo, whose Blood Alley spot is "the O.G. Back Alley Taco & Drink Shop," is well-known and loved for its menu of approachable and fun takes on Mexican-style comfort eats, like nachos, burritos, quesadillas, and, of course, tacos.
Plus, when it comes to the new Davie Street Gringo, "We will have some exciting menu features that we will be sharing on our social feeds in the coming weeks," hints Davis.
Currently, Gringo 2.0 on Davie is open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight daily. Follow them on Instagram @Gringo_Westend for more info and to find out about their new menu items.
