A fixture in the Mount Pleasant community since 2003 - thanks in no small part to its "slice-of-pie-shaped home" in the Vernon Block Building where Kingsway and Main meet Broadway - Our Town Café has been through a lot of changes in recent years. Now it's time for the café as we know it to wrap up its run.
Our Town announced recently that the "Bohemian coffee house" is closing down. Their last day will be Saturday, June 11.
"We’ve shared many laughs, brightened many days, and so much more these past 19 years. We’ve gone through ups and downs, and the many challenges since 2020, but now we need a pause," shared owners on Our Town's social media.
Even before 2020, Our Town endured significant change, as the café underwent what operators called a "loving revitalization" just a couple of years prior, closing in 2017 and re-opening in 2018.
More recently, Our Town welcomed vegetarian and vegan food pop-up concept Plant Me on board as a permanent in-house offering, after the venture started out as an after-hours temporary operation.
Our Town says they will continue to have its space available for events and pop-ups with rentals available.
"Remember, this will always be our town," concludes the café.
Our Town Café is located at 255 East Broadway in Vancouver.
