A new ice cream shop in Metro Vancouver is letting customers create their own cold treat through its unique offering of "personalized swirls."
Flavr, located in Langley, opened in time for peak ice cream season this year and is keen to welcome more treat lovers in to choose their own swirl-venture.
"Our mission was all about positivity," Flavr's Adam Jones tells Vancouver Is Awesome via email. "People go for an ice cream treat because they are in a good mood and want to treat themselves or they want to treat themselves to get into a good mood".
"We wanted to create an experience where a customer could create their own treat or even modify one of our recipes to match their craving, along with the cool experience of seeing their fresh treat being created right in front of them," Jones adds.
How to build your personalized ice cream treat
Flavr not only offers a set menu of flavours but also has an array of premium ingredients you can choose to have swirled into the base of your choice, which are dairy, non-dairy, or frozen yogurt.
You can match the base of choice with fresh fruit for a New Zealand-style swirl, or you can create your own recipe of mix-ins and base - think components like cheesecake, cereals, nuts, chocolate chips and more.
If you'd rather go with something from the menu, Flavr has nearly 20 options, like "Coffee Talk" (dark chocolate base infused with espresso blend, Skor chips and chocolate chips. finished with Skor chips and a chocolate drizzle) or "Silly Rabbit" (vanilla base infused with strawberries, blueberries and Trix cereal, finished with Froot Loop dust and strawberry drizzle).
And there are more key choices to make: Flavr will load your pick into cups or cones, but they can also make smoothies or shakes, too. Ice cream blends are available by the pint, too.
Flavr is located at #501 - 22259 48th Ave. in Langley and is open Monday through Thursday from 1 to 8:30 p.m., Fridays from 1 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m.
