A Richmond sushi and BBQ restaurant was temporarily closed due to health violations.

Insect activity and unsanitary conditions were some of the issues discovered during a routine check-up at a sushi and BBQ restaurant in Richmond city centre.

Real Love BBQ Restaurant at 250-7977 Westminster Hwy. in London Plaza was shut down from June 25 to 28 after a routine health inspection.

According to the report published by Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the health inspector found other infractions including the obstruction or use of the handwashing station for other purposes and failure to use temperature records to monitor critical limits.

The premises was also not free of conditions that could lead to the harbouring, breeding and entry of pests.

A total of three critical and two non-critical infractions were recorded during the June 25 inspection and a closure order was issued.

A follow-up inspection on June 28 found the restaurant had resolved all of its critical infractions. The only item that was not in compliance was the existence of conditions that could lead to pest activity.
