The annual Pirate Pak Day fundraiser event takes place at White Spot restaurants in Vancouver and across B.C. on August 14, 2024

It's such a treasured tradition it's...legendary: Going to a White Spot restaurant and getting a Pirate Pak. While this is usually reserved for the 10-and-under crew, for one glorious day each year, the Vancouver-based family restaurant chain offers the beloved meal combo to adults as part of a popular fundraiser.

Taking place on Wednesday, August 14 this year, on Pirate Pak Day grownups can also enjoy the combo platter served in a cute cardboard boat, and it’s all for a terrific cause. That’s because for every Pirate Pak sold that day, White Spot will make a $2 donation to the Zajac Ranch for Children, a B.C.-based charity dedicated to providing children and young adults with serious illnesses and chronic disabilities an unforgettable summer camp experience.

Pirate Pak Day is in its 12th year, and so far, White Spot has raised more than $1,000,000 for Zajac Ranch from various initiatives. They've sent hundreds of youth to camp each year to enjoy a multitude of thrilling and engaging activities, all made fully accessible. These experiences empower them to overcome barriers, build resiliency, and simply enjoy being kids.

The Pirate Pak has been around for decades, delighting young White Spot diners since its inception in 1968, when founder Nat Bailey wanted “to provide a unique dining experience for children aged 10 and under,” according to the restaurant.

What can grownups get in their Pirate Paks?

On Pirate Pak Day, teens and adults can experience the same kid-like joy of getting a "ship-shaped" meal in a cardboard boat, only they have some pretty tricked-out options. Customers can load their Pirate Paks with their choice of the following: Legendary Burger, Bacon Cheddar Burger, BC Chicken Burger, Brie & Mushroom Veggie Burger, Dippin’ Chicken, or The White Spot Club.

All adult Pirate Paks include coleslaw, fries, a scoop of ice cream, and the White Spot's iconic chocolate coin. (Arrrggh, mateys, the drink is not included.) Select kids' combos are part of the special fundraiser event, and there are some subs for sides available for a surcharge. View the full menu with pricing and more info online.

The Pirate Paks are sold for dine-in and take-out only (not delivery) at 51 B.C. and Alberta White Spot restaurants, starting at 11 a.m. and while supplies last.
