Chef Kris Lawrie started Konz back in 2015 in British Columbia, so it's only fitting after launching locations in neighbouring provinces from Alberta to Ontario that the "pizza in a cone" concept set up shop out west.
A few things have changed, mind you, since Lawrie was slinging pizza cones from his Konz Pizza trailer in Kelowna.
Now Konz is a national franchise, and has two Metro Vancouver locations in the works, both in Surrey.
The first anticipated outpost will be in the Luxe development at 110 - 14818 60th Ave, located in Surrey's South Newton/Sullivan area, with an aim of opening later this fall or early this winter. To follow in spring 2023 will be a Konz location at The Corners at 102 - 18811 72nd Ave in Clayton Heights.
So just what is Konz all about? The core menu item is a pizza that's made into a cone. "Every morning we start our day with fresh, locally sourced and prepared ingredients. Our proprietary pizza dough recipe is then prepared, proofed and formed into our signature cones, using our state-of-the-art patented equipment," reads franchising materials for Konz.
The pizzas, which also come in "pressed" or "flat" options come in flavours like pepperoni, cheeseburger, and butter chicken, among other options. Alongside the pizza are pasta dishes and salads, as well as poutine, hard-pack and soft serve ice cream, shakes, and sides like tots, chicken bites, and meatballs.
