The long-awaited plant-based restaurant, Kokomo, has announced it is opening in Port Moody this weekend.
In a social media post, Kokomo said a grand opening is planned for Saturday (Dec. 10) and will be operating 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
Katie Ruddell started the West Coast-inspired eatery, who has three successful Kokomo restaurants in Vancouver with her business partner Colin Denton.
The restaurant is located at #3-121 Brew St. in Suter Brook Village and is expected to offer a variety of fresh plant-based meals to eat in or for pickup and delivery.
Through the tall glass doors, guests will be greeted by an open-concept eatery that "evokes the feeling of summer — no matter what season it is outside," according to a release.
The modular seating plan will also invite guests to eat together, "aligning with Kokomo’s core value of community."
'Flavour-packed' vegan food
Kokomo's menu includes a wide variety of plant-based acai bowls, rice bowls, salads, smoothies, wraps and a full coffee line up.
Like the Beach Boys' song Kokomo, the new restaurant is betting customers will enjoy the Kokomo "state of mind," its website states.
Although the menu for the Port Moody location is not yet posted online, diners can likely expect tasty ingredients that evoke the region, including the Coastal Macro, which includes marinated tempeh, edamame hummus, roasted squash, cucumber, ginger pickled cabbage, greens, brown rice, sesame seeds, and Thai turmeric sunflower seed dressing
The grand-opening event is set to offer samples of menu items and a chance to mingle with the community, according to Kokomo's Instagram.
