The co-founder of Vancouver poke brand Pokey Okey is prepping to launch a new sibling concept restaurant in Kitsilano.
Called Don Restaurant, the venture from Northwest Culinary alum Victor He is positioned as "go-to spot for delicious Asian fusion cuisine in the neighbourhood," according to a press release.
Located at 2186 W 4th Ave in a former Glory Juice shop space, Don Restaurant will offer a menu featuring dishes inspired by He's heritage. If we can take some cues from what the restaurant's DoorDash menu indicates, that could mean high-end udon, soba, and don (as in donburi, Japanese rice bowls). However, Don has not officially shared any information about what they'll be dishing up, nor a website or social media links.
"A great deal of effort, heart, and soul was infused into this project and we are incredibly excited to share it with you," says He.
It does sound like the restaurant is aiming to offer something across the spectrum from the casual grab-and go vibes of Pokey Okey, in particular when it comes to the design. "The decor of the restaurant has been designed to be the most beautiful in the neighbourhood by a wide margin, creating a luxurious and inviting atmosphere for diners," asserts the Don Restaurant media release.
An exact opening day has not been set, however, Don Restaurant is looking to open its doors this February.
