Ice cream is good no matter what the weather is the mindset of Vancouver's Rain or Shine scoop shops, and even if it's wet and chilly, ice cream still can chase away the January blues. Even better: Doing good for others and scoring a free pint of locally-made ice cream.
Rain or Shine is running their annual #pintforapint campaign: Donate blood this month and get yourself a free pint of ice cream.
To participate, donors need to pick up a card from one of their locations (Cambie, Kits, UBC) while supplies last, then visit the Oak Street Clinic to donate blood. While at the clinic, get your card stamped, then bring it back on Jan. 31 at the store that issued you the card and get your free ice cream.
"We first did this campaign four years ago when our friend’s young daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. Blood is always needed and we hoped to encourage more first time donors to help," explains Rain or Shine on their site.
"Unfortunately some individuals are unable to donate blood, due to government policies out of our control. We hope that these barriers are removed in the near future but we trust that you understand there are no barriers to the lives saved by donated blood," adds Rain or Shine.
The Canadian Blood Services' Oak Street location is at 4750 Oak Street in Vancouver. Find clinic hours and make an appointment online here.
