The owners of a long-standing South Vancouver Taiwanese restaurant have closed up shop, and tell customers in a heartfelt farewell notice that the closure stems from lease issues.
Huang's Beef Noodle at 6940 Victoria Dr closed its doors permanently on Saturday, July 23.
"Unfortunately, we were unable to come to agreement with the landlord on how to move forward with our lease," write Huang's owners Tina and Andy in a goodbye letter posted at the restaurant.
"We will be taking this opportunity to enjoy early retirement and finally relax," they add.
Huang's Beef Noodle was a small family-run operation that developed loyal fans over its lengthy tenure. "This is definitely a neighbourhood gem and the owners are literally friends with everyone in this neighbourhood," says one customer in a Google review.
Another fan adds: "Huang's Beef Noodle Restaurant has been on Victoria Drive for as long [as] I can remember."
"I’ve been coming here for over a decade for their spicy beef noodle soup and I’ve always loved it," says another customer via Google, noting the closure and that the current land owner is looking to sell the property.
Huang's was known for its familiar and comforting no-frills Taiwanese classics, like beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, fried pork chop and dumplings
Described by many as a "hidden gem," Huang's owners themselves proudly refer to the spot as their "humble hole-in-the-wall."
"It has been our privilege in serving the Victoria Drive community and beyond for over 25 years and we want to thank every customer who has walked through our doors," add Tina and Andy in the restaurant's closing notice.
"We are proud of what we've accomplished in the years of business and we could not have done it without all of you. We wish you all the best and for a prosperous future."
