If you want to spot superstar Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, the next time they're in Vancouver, you might want to get a table at Minerva's.
That's because the star of the just-released The Adam Project on Netflix has once again shouted out the long-standing Kerrisdale Greek restaurant as being his "favourite in the world."
Reynolds dished on his fave places to eat in Vancouver in an interview alongside Adam Project director Shawn Levy, as shared to the Netflix in Your Neighbourhood page for the flick. That's the mapping site run by Netflix that shows you all the locations of their films and series shot locally, and now The Adam Project - shot extensively in Metro Vancouver, and in particular the South Delta community of Ladner - is mapped out there, too.
This isn't the first time Reynolds has given a hearty shout-out to Minerva's; the Vancouver native has name-dropped the unassuming family-run spot that's been around since the mid-70s in past interviews, once admitting he and Lively have been known to hit up Minerva's three times in one week.
If Reynolds' endorsement has you curious to check out Minerva's, it's located at 2411 W 41st Ave, and there you'll find steaks, pasta, and plenty of Greek fare. Or, you can visit Minerva's newer related restaurant, Loula's, which opened last summer on Commercial Drive, and maybe inspire Reynolds to give this younger spot a try.
For his part, Levy went with the Anthony Bourdain No Reservations guide to Vancouver for his picks, naming veteran classics Vij's, Cioppino's, and Tojo's. (PS: Did you know Tojo's is where the California Roll came from, so legend has it?)
Both Levy and Reynolds had plenty to say about the beauty of B.C. in the Netflix interview, with Reynolds noting the diversity of the geography and Levy getting really deep into the moss on our trees.
Netflix in Your Neighbourhood has also added the Metro Vancouver filming locations for Brazen. Other projects shot in and around Vancouver and B.C. mapped out include Maid, Always Be My Maybe, To All the Boys, and Firefly Lane.
