A new bakery is opening this week in Port Coquitlam.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, La Boulangerie will have its soft opening at 2-1471 Prairie Ave. to serve classic French baked goods.

In September, the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays with more days added in the coming months, according to its post on Instagram.

Sited at the Coho commissary kitchen in Vancouver for the past five years, the business has exclusively whipped up wholesale frozen croissants — until now.

At its new shop, it’ll have a menu that includes:

  • ham and cheese croissants with homemade béchamel
  • spinach and feta croissants with ricotta, goat cheese and mint
  • mushroom and bacon croissants with béchamel sauce
  • brioche feuilletée

La Boulangerie is part of the Steve’s Gourmet Foods brand.

It’s not the first bakery to open in Port Coquitlam this year.

In May, the Utah-based Crumbl Cookies launched its first-ever B.C. shop in PoCo at 1125 Nicola Ave.

The location continues to draw large crowds from around B.C., with line-ups often around the corner of the strip mall that's north of Costco.
