This winter the weather outside in Metro Vancouver has been frightful, so a comforting cup - or two - of hot chocolate sounds especially delightful. The good news is that the city's popular annual Hot Chocolate Festival is set to take place once again, spanning four weeks in January and February 2022.
Launching January 15, and running through February 14, the month-long event is undoubtedly the sweetest way to count down to Valentine’s Day. The Hot Chocolate Festival finds Metro Vancouver restaurants, cafes, and treat shops showcasing original cocoa concoctions and specials to please your sweet tooth. Fans of the warming, chocolatey bev can get their hands on the drinks of their choosing by simply visiting a participating location.
In recent years, the Hot Chocolate Festival has seen about 40 participants every winter, dreaming up and pouring from a roster of upwards of nearly 100 tempting sweet creations.
Year after year, some venues pull out all the stops and offer outrageous and over-the-top concoctions featuring unique and unexpected ingredients; in the past we've seen hot chocolates tricked out with all kinds of spices and ingredients like bacon or even crickets, as well as ones dolled up with cookies, candies, and other tantalizing add-ons. You can even find some hot chocolates with a grown-up boost, i.e. booze, whereas some will keep it a little more traditional.
What's in store for this year? We can expect to learn which Metro Vancouver spots will be taking part in Hot Chocolate Fest 2022 just before the sweet celebration gets underway in mid-January.
