In an unexpected one-two punch, Vancouver sandwich and salad spot The Tuck Shoppe has just announced they've closed their remaining location. The news comes on the heels of the closure of their original Chinatown location just a few weeks ago.
"As you know, we recently departed from our Chinatown location," reads a farewell message from The Tuck Shoppe on social media. "Although we had planned to continue to operate our 2nd location in Granville’s Island’s Net Loft, the original concept wasn’t translating in that location. Rather than start a new concept, we have now closed this location as we look ahead to future projects. Thank you for your business, Zach & Adam."
Zach and Adam are Zach Buckman and Adam Merpaw, who launched The Tuck Shoppe on Union Street just about four years ago.
The Tuck Shoppe's Canadiana camp and cabin-inspired space on Union was one of Vancouver's hidden gems. The restaurant offered a casual, cheery vibe, and the crew really embraced their community. In the spring of 2019 The Tuck Shoppe launched in the Net Loft building at Granville Island, taking over the vacated Sen Pad Thai space and offering not only their signature salads and sandwiches but also a breakfast menu.
The Tuck Shoppe is no longer listed on the Granville Island food and drink vendor list. No word yet on what might replace the counter-service restaurant in place of The Tuck Shoppe there.
