Yaletown won't have to go long without a Small Victory bakery in the neighbourhood.
The local chain closed its original shop at 1088 Homer St. last spring. At the time, they announced a new location was in the works for the nearby Marinaside area.
The new Small Victory location at 1089 Marinaside Cres is nearing completion and is expected to grand open later this month (February 2025).
The space was formerly Seahouse, a Mediterranean restaurant offering pizza, pasta, and live jazz from 2020 to 2023. Some of the Seahouse team ended up at Aylin's Kitchen, which opened in the former Martini's restaurant on West Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
For its forthcoming new Yaletown location, Small Victory will boast "an interior design inspired by the mesmerizing interplay of textures found in both the ocean and the culinary arts," which was designed by the firm &Daughters, according to a media release issued at the start of February.
On the menu will be Small Victory's signature selection of freshly-baked bread, handcrafted pastries, and a robust coffee program.
While Small Victory closed its Homer Street location in 2024, in 2023 they opened its biggest location in Mount Pleasant at 388 W 6th Ave near Cambie.
Small Victory also has locations in South Granville and Burnaby's Amazing Brentwood Mall.
Known for its baked goods served alongside a comprehensive coffee program, with breakfast and lunch dishes — and cakes and pies, too — Small Victory was established in Yaletown in 2017.
“We are thrilled to return to Yaletown, and especially to such a stunning waterfront location,” says Afshan, Co-Owner of Small Victory Bakery.
