Sisters Andi and Stephanie French are closing their popular pizza and pie shop, called The Pie Shoppe, in East Vancouver this month.

After a dozen years of making pies, the French sisters are closing the doors to their popular restaurant The Pie Shoppe.

The Pie Shopped started as a tiny space at 721 Gore St selling only pies and coffee. After a few years, they added pizzas to the menu and moved to a new space at 1875 Powell St., where they've been for the past eight years.

Now, 12 years after starting The Pie Shoppe, Andi and Stephanie French are moving on.

"The Pie Shoppe as we know it will come to a close at the end of September. It was not an easy decision to make and isn’t due to any one factor," they write in an Instagram post. "The Pie Shoppe was never intended to be forever, and for us it’s time to take a break."

They go on to thank the community for supporting the business for more than a decade

"Thank you for 12 years of support through fire and rain, snow and Covid," they state.

They also explain that even though the shop is closing, they will stay involved in Vancouver's food scene.

"This decision was not made lightly, and is not the end. It merely signifies the opening of a new chapter," reads the post.

Pizza service will only happen from 5 to 0 p.m. on Sept. 14, 15 and 20. Pies will be available at those times as well, and more times may be added.
