It's the third Japanese restaurant to open and close in the space within a decade.

Avo House, a sushi restaurant, is closing after less than two years on Robson Street in Vancouver's West End.

Just a couple of months short of two years, Avo House is closing its doors permanently.

Located in the West End at 1509 Robson St., the restaurant specializes in a variety of Japanese dishes including a variety of sushi, ranging from aburi to inari pockets (sushi in deep-fried tofu pockets) to sushi pizzas.

However, that's ending later this week.

"Our restaurant will be closing permanently after Sept. 15," reads a message on Avo House's website. "Thank you for your support."

Avo House will be the third Japanese restaurant to close at 1509 Robson St. in the last decade. Kazami only lasted a few years, opening in 2019 and closing in 2022. And Hato Popo was in the space from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, it appears the space wasn't occupied (the building is only about 15 years old).
